The installation Mortals was selected in 2023 for A.I.R. Gallery’s 15th Biennial: Friends of the Artists, curated by Eriola Pira, in Brooklyn, NY.

Mortals visualizes the exhaustive number of people Valérie Hallier has "known" since she was born. It translates in space, with flower petals, pins, threads and stickers, the complexity of a network that spans more than 2500 relationships.

The installation has evolved through 5 iterations for 5 different exhibitions and keeps on growing with new people met and known each year. This is the first year the artist uses flower petals to symbolize relationships levels from acquaintance to flirt, from close friend to enemy. A key explains the color coding.
